- Good work Trish, here's your picture of the Pretty ThingsI hosted it on flickr.com: Do you have a confirmed date for this gig yet? I bet you wrote it in your diary, or maybe it's on the back of the photo? Was it 1967? -
- The Pretty Things in FolkestoneSome pictures I've just been sent, of The Pretty Things when they played at Micks' Flamenco Bar (now better known as Pipers) in 1967: That last photo was taken outside George Robey's the tobacconist a couple of doors down from the club. The next two were taken inside the club. I am not sure about the year, but probably 66 or 67. If I could find out when Skip took over as drummer from Viv Prince, it might help. That's from the supplier of the photos, answers.com says His increasing unre -

- 1976 AC/DC @ Leas Cliff Hall (Sat 11 Sep 1976)
Looks like it was cancelled...
[leave a comment]- AC/DC 1976I saw AC/DC in 1976 and AC/DC didnt play. I travelled down from Gravesend. I believe that the gig was cancelled by the council who didnt agree with Angus dropping his shorts!!! The replacement act was The Real Thing (and they weren't) - Rob
- 1976 The Real Thing @ Leas Cliff Hall (Sat 11 Sep 1976)
Last minute replacement for AC/DC, who the council disagreed with. Hardly seems a fair swap!

[leave a comment]- Suede @ Folkestone MetronomeWas searching for mentions of The Metronome a famous music venue of Folkestone, was hoping to find some details of The Pixies playing there... no joy there, but it seems Suede played there in 1992, supporting Kingmaker. -

[leave a comment]- Viva Las VegasI have been in that Las Vegas, nice place, shame about the food, for me anyway. Had a nice grilled vege sub from Quizno's on the way home, but apart from that it's not the best place for a vegan. Breakfast was fried potato and spicy tomato sauce, more than I'd eat at home, but not a lot considering the choice available to everyone else. Not many of the restaurants made any concession at all to vegetarians on their menu, so no hope for me. On place that did was Olives in the Bellagio hotel. But i - pauly

- 2005 Richard Herring @ Lanterns (Sat 21 May 2005) [leave a comment]
- Lone Star ComedyRichard Herring's coming to Folkestone on the 21st May, he's headlining the Lone Star Comedy evening at Lanterns. Also appearing are Gary Delaney, Owen Niblock and resident compere Danny James... Richard Herring is ace, best known for partnering Stuart Lee on shows like TV and radio's Fist of Fun and This Morning with Richard Not Judy. Danny James used to play PopEx you know. -
- Someone Likes YoghurtSo, that Lone Star Comedy night is a bit good isn't it? This week's lineup of Richard Herring, Gary Delaney and Owen Niblock plus resident compere Danny James were fantastic. It was my first trip to Lanterns, but those stairs are worth climbing. It's a working man's club type layout, just right for comedy, easy to get to and from the bar during the sets without causing a disturbance. One FREAKISH thing about that place is the fire escape at the back - the door was open and you get an amazing a -
- I wrote thisI swear I made this up, just a coincidence they did it later. And actually funny. Good to see it online! www.youtub ... HSGzE?hd=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen> I think Stuart Lee and Richard Herring are great, so I'll let it go, just this once. Woo, nearly finished rewriting this board / blog system in proper object oriented perl at last. If that doesn't get me a good job, I don't know what will. -

Suport comes from Chapel Club.
[leave a comment]- I thought 10 O'Clock Live was greatGood, more serious than we expected and less shocking, but great, will watch again. Good work @laverneshow @realdmitchell @charltonbrooker and @jimmycarr. Seems like news about the Suede gigs at Brixton Academy is out, a gig for each of the first three albums. Hope we can go. We can sort most things so as to go to at least one of these shows (the first one for me, what a prefer their earlier stuff cliche I am) but it might be while the in-laws are on holiday which would throw a spanner in t -
- Just bought me 2 tickets for Suede at BrixtonGot 2 tix for the Suede gig and the Dog Man Star one, where they're playing the albums through. Result! There is a pre-sale link on the official site, though tickets are on sale officially on Friday. There's a three day season ticket available apparently, though they seem to be all gone now. It's a good way of saving the outrageous booking fees. I wonder if they give you a nice laminate or something with that? Probably not. Just spent GBP130 or so on tickets, not that clever in the week before p -
- A Suede holidaySo two nights at Suede, and the best part of two days in London surrounding it, what a rare treat! Clare left Harry with her mum and dad and came to meet me at work Thursday lunchtime. We left the car at work and started our adventure from Westenhanger station. Took an old slow train up to London as we were in no rush, and meandered across on foot to our hotel in Victoria, via parks, shops, and one pub. Or perhaps more Pimlico. It was the Best Western Victoria Palace something and was a bit crap -
