The Hub cycle shop in Sandgate is ace

OK mostly I went in for the cafe, but what a lovely place

OK, I went there because it is a cafe too, but it has made me want to buy a new bike. Been thinking about it for a while, something we will probably do when we move. Then we can cycle up and down the canal path and the sea front, with Harry on a little trailer.

Walked to our new house and back this afternoon with Harry for entertainment and exercise. I was only intending to check out this cafe, but it was so nice I kept on walking and stopped in at the cafe on the way back.

It has nice cool decor, very reasonably priced drinks, free water, and it's super child friendly - they have some toys and things to keep the kids occupied while you get talked into buying a bike, and they even do a bambinoccino. Oh and there's bike hire too, so we might take a couple of Electra Townies for the afternoon. Oh, but probably won't buy one...

Picked up some bike brochures, if there's anything left over when we move, we'll get new bikes soon. Holiday Extras (work) is in the cycle to work scheme so I can get one without paying the tax, if the tories don't stop it. I particularly like the Pashley Guv'nor but it's a bit out of my price range.

I am well out of touch with local pubs. Looking forward to popping in when we move more locally to it.

Went past today and peeped in the doors, did not go in though as I had Harry with me.

Just posting this as a reply to myself as it's not worth a post in its own right but I want it to show up if people are searching the site for The Clarendon, Sandgate. And now it will.

The Ship Inn has finally been extended

This was talked about all the time I used to go in there, I never thought it would happen. They have a swanky looking dining room and new roof terrace now, looks very nice. The front bar still seems the same though.
