She's always confident about everything

... and I have nothing to say. Is this what it's going to be like for the rest of the year?
I've had a few offers and suggestions from friends, lots of people want to help me out but are astounded by my 12 month notice period. They are seeing this as a huge disadvantage, whereas I see it as a safety buffer. I've got 12 months to get my skills up to date (up to date for 12 months time, not up to date for now) and learn some things that I've not had time to until now. It means I can't apply for a job like this one right away, which sounds nice and local and possibly up my street, but it also means I don't need to apply for something that's not right for me. Can't figure out if that job is techy enough for me, though it does sound up my street.
So, to the CV, that's probably the first step.
Just for fun, put some new Javascript in that counts down the days until R-Day and chucks the answer at the bottom of each post...

hold on. let me get this right...you've got a mutual notice period of 12 months? yikes. if so, surely you could negotiate an early finish provided you gave them say 1-2 month's notice??
also, just wanted to tender my regards....next time i go down farrindon road i'll squat and do a big shit outside your work in protest.

I want to squeeze every last penny out really though, so in years to come when it turns out Popex is the only thing I achieved, I can say "at least it paid me x pounds".
Or should that be pence?

did you sign all your IP rights in POOEX away in your contract? it just wouldn't be right without you running it.
mOOMINTRUDE :: 5 Apr :: 2006 :: Comment / reply
Yeah I signed it all away about 5 years ago.

that's a shame.
oh and for the record, it's cos the firewall at work wont let me go there. which is amusing, considering that i was probably the only person in the firm to visit it and must have created a volume of traffic significant enough to warrant someone being arsed to block it....

But I you're bang-on, it gives you 12 months to get the job you want rather than the job you need. I'm willing to bet most of the regular punters will quit once you go though. Do you know what channelfly are planning to do with PopEx once you're relieved of duty? mOOMINTRUDE is right, PopEx just wouldn't be the same without you at the helm. I know this is purely selfish but please hang on in there for as long as you can !
It's a real shame you didn't hold on to the PopEx IP.. What does Mrs Pauly think about it all?

I try to be gloomy about things, but she brings me right back up again.
